How many of you have been late to work, or late home, or late to meet friends and family because of tube delays, signal failures, tube driver strikes, overcrowding and just a general disgracefully run public transport "service"?

Us Londoners pay the highest public transport fares in Europe, if not the world, and deserve to have a reliable service. Fares keep going up and up, but the service gets no better.

I want to promote a London Fare Free Day for us all to stand up and show that Londoners will no longer put up with being treated worse than cattle. European laws state how many cattle you can fit into a certain area, when we are constantly standing nose to nose with people without being able to move.

I urge all of you to support a cause that can only benefit all of us. For years we have been promised a better service but are yet to receive it. Billions are being spent on the Olympics, yet the tubes are still in a complete state of disarray. How will London transport cope in the summer of 2012 when an extra million people descend on this city for the Olympics?

On 22 November 2004 one girl in Sydney, Australia, promoted a fare free day in protest of the state of the transport system. Tens of thousands of people turned up at stations across the city and refused to pay their fares. What could they do? Fine everybody? No. They had no choice but to open the gates and let people through. Sydney stood up and noticed and the NSW State Rail lost millions of dollars in fares. The NSW State Transport Minister also noticed and things were changed. London needs to do the same. You may ask "What if I have already paid for my monthly ticket?" Well I say lets arrange it for the first of the month on the day that most of us would renew our monthly tickets. Even if you have paid for your ticket, support the principle that we deserve better.

Please accept this event in support of this cause that annoys all of us, yet very few of us speak out. It's time Londoners did speak out and shout "We will not put up with this any more!"

Pass this on to all you know and support London's Fare Free Day. You can also show your support by emailing londonfarefreeday@yahoo.com and Link to Facebook event http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=13737003449
