just want to ask you guys for your help
currently looking for a place to stay in london. will be moving there by june or july.

i posted on gumtree and a certain Meiri Mujkanovic replied
£100pw inclusive w/ £650 deposit @ baker st. in a 2 bed flat
he's asking for my info so that he could start with the tenancy agreement already.
then i got suspicious, coz i haven't seen the flat in person, so how sure is he that I will be the next flatmate? agreement w/o seeing the flat first? then he said he's going to send me a scanned passport so that i can be assured. i know it can be easily forged.

i googled the name and it came out that this person is in charge of student rents.

i think it sounds too good to be true.
please help!

thanks

This definitely sounds like a scam. You should be able to view the property before you pay any money.

I would also advise yourself and everybody to read the 'Stay Safe' section before using Gumtree as it offers helpful tips to avoid being scammed on the internet!

Unless your housing is arranged directly through your work or school, it's best to spend a few days in a hostel when you arrive so you can actually see places in person and meet the people you will be living with. There are too many scams so you can never be sure the person you are sending money to is legitimate.

Sorry to say that, but I'm looking for accommodation too and from all the offers I've checked I'd say that more than 50% are dodgy. That's a very bad ratio, but then again this is THE place of thiefs.

I think many people have been cheated like I have, I lost thousands of pounds because I trusted others.

DO NOT TRUST ANYONE IN LONDON !!!!!!!

COV YOUR QUOTE WAS

"I think many people have been cheated like I have, I lost thousands of pounds because I trusted others. "

I would have thought you would have been a bit more understanding before calling others dumb

I also got a nasty reply from this person over 3 days of communication - I was almost going to pay the £700 cash upfront - as I really neded a place to stay.. But in the end I thought this was a scam !

So yeah - its a full time job for a lot of this rental scammers using gumtree for their dirty games. I had no idea this was a huge scam business...Now I am wisher !! Take note !

We MUST get this ruthless thiefs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There must be a way to catch them.
How about finding the location via the ISP ??
How about putting out a high reward for people taking WESTERN UNION customers (who collect money of course) into custody until our special forces have arrived and given either all clear or refer straight away to BOOT CAMP.

Yeah, that's right ... pls pls pls give me the chance and let me punish them.
I will have no mercy on these scum. I'd give them a "good" time at BOOT CAMP which they'd never forget for the rest of their lifes.

Oh dear God, if you exist ... give uncle Cov the pleasure.

pls pls pls
