Hi everybody,
I'm moving to London for 3 months period, from June-August, and I''ve found on Gumtree a suitable accomodation. Considering the fact that I am not in London at the moment, how can I proceed with the landlord? Shall we sign an agreement and pay a deposit for reservation? How does it usually works? How can I stay safe and be sure he is reliable if I pay for a deposit?
Hope somebody here could give me some useful advices... |

Hi gemmazanni,
We always recommend that you view the property first before you pay any desposit. The person may well be genuine, but it is a big risk to take. I realize that it is difficult in your situation, but I am sure you do not want to lose your money.
Maybe you have a friend over here who can check out properties for you first? Otherwise I would book a few nights in a hostel. There are plenty of short term options available that you can take a look at when you arrive.
Please see our Stay Safe tips below for more information.
Good luck! |
