I just wanted to warn people of some losers on Gumtree coning innocent people out of money, I was unfortunate enough to lose out on £400 to a so called letting comany Rightmove Enterprises LTD, I've investigated further and they have many adverts on Gumtree for Studio flats or 1 Bedroom apartments, please beware of low lifes like these as I would hate for someone else to go through this. I've included the emails that were sent. I started off emailing the contact Tom reed here was his reply....then I was told to email this so called agency...

I was in contact with these people yesterday and I had a feeling they were trying to scam me, it just didn't seem right. I also started off talking to Tom Reed as I was interested in the flat for rent and he passed me onto this agency (obviosly its just the same person). When I asked if I could see the property first he basically said it wasn't possible (read below) STAY WELL CLEAR OF THESE PEOPLE, i also think they operate under different email address arthurwiggins@googlemail.com renting a place in Brixton edrog9@googlemail.com renting out a studio flat in Herne Hill is the same person STAY AWAY. When they could see I wasn'nt keen on putting money in Moneygram they gave up pretty quick. I feel sorry for the guy who lost his money to these people.

hi,
Thanks for such a quick response. Is there any chance I could get to view the property first before depositing the funds? I would be interested in moving in before Christmas.
many thanks

Dear Madame,
You have to know that this is the procedure. We are using this method since 2002.Our politic is different from other agencies. For example, other agencies are asking the tenants fees.We are not doing that, instead we are asking just a deposit representing rent for a month. You have our agent`s full address and name, and you will have the Money Gram paper as a receipt, you don`t have to worry about your money, they won`t be withdrawn by him.
He just needs to check them online, just to make sure that someone is waiting for him at the property.
After you`ll see the property, if you agree to move in it the deposit will be credited as rent for the first month, and if you don`t like it and won`t move in it.You`ll go with the agent at the first Money Gram Office, he will withdraw the money and return them to you.
Everything is simple, he just needs to check the money online.
Thank You
RightMove Enterprises

There is a real company called Rightmove Enterprises Ltd which can be verified by looking at the web-check service of the Companies House website. However, scammers often cite genuine companies for their scams.
Though you may well have done this, I've notified Gumtree admin.
See our stay safe info here
http://www.gumtree.com/help/stay_safe#item73
o View properties in person. Gumtree is a local community site and we encourage face-to-face, local, trading. People willing to rent a property without seeing it/ or the prospective tenant first, even if they claim that it is because they are currently overseas, are unlikely to be legitimate. For personal ease and safety, always ensure you take someone with you, or if you are inviting someone into your home ask to see personal identification first.
o It is illegal for agencies in the UK to charge fees for viewing properties/ property listings. Please report to us any agencies advertising on Gumtree that ask for fees upfront.
o Never send or wire money to landlords. This includes never mailing a cheque or using payment services like Bidpay, Western Union or Money Gram to pay for items found on Gumtree. It is our belief that these forms of funds transfer are favoured by fraudsters.
o Gumtree doesn’t offer any sort of buyer protection/ payment programs. Any emails that talk about such systems are scams, even if they may have the Gumtree logo. If you receive any emails promoting these services, please report it to us .
o Never provide your personal or banking information (e.g. credit card number) to others over the Internet.
o Make yourself aware of common scams and fraud - see our Scam Watch section. Do not believe the promise of large sums of money for your help in any task.
o Report to us any attempted fraud or suspicious emails, ads, or other activity by community members. In case of fraud, we also recommend that you report it to the Police.
o Use common sense. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. |

Strange how your replies come from rmenterprises@london.com , as the domain london.com is a parked domain redirecting to londontown.com, a reputable London Information Website.
However, it may be forged. There are programs that can send fake email addresses in the FROM field.
As Bluey said check the gumtree's guide to stay safe and avoid scams.
They asked you to send payment to

Might be worth it reporting it to the police?
Although there is little chance you will recover your money, there may be a connection between the scam and this address, or they just randomly took someone's address. |

I've recieved another email from these losers again, they now don't want to use Moneygram but Western Union and the agent is now called James Brenner, please read the email below
Dear Madame,
We apologise but mr Alan Skinner is away with business. In this same situation are all our field agents in London. We have contacted another agent of our`s and he agreed to finish this deal with you.You have to know that now he is in Milano, Italy to make the final arrangements for a deal.He will arrive in London in aproximately two days.He will meet with you in order to visit the property as soon as he arrives in London. If you are ready to make the deposit representing rent for the first month,we will give you his details:
First Name:James
Last Name:Brenner
Adress: via Cola Montano,8
City: Milano
Postcode:20159
Country: Italy
Please make the payment with the services of Western Union because we are not satisfied anymore of the services offered by Money Gram. Many tenants were not serious and we have some problems because of that. You realise that our agent must check the deposit so he can be sure that you will be waiting for him at the property. When you are ready, you can visit a Western Union office and make the deposit required. We are asking you to trust us and we will finish this deal in two days. Then you will be able to move in your new property.
Thank you for your time!
DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. |

I am sorry to hear of your experiences.
We actively encourage all kinds of feedback, especially the sort that helps us keep the site free from “rubbish” & "scam" ads. If you come across any ad that you feel we should look at on Gumtree.com, please use the "Report this ad to Gumtree admin for review" button that can be found on the bottom right-hand corner of all ads.
Thanks for the email address's, I will take further action with this.
As per Bluey's advise - Keep an eye on our Stay Safe section (link below)

Don't underestimate the stupidity of some people.
There is still the latest phone/laptop/gadget to buy, or a "work from home, get paid 10% of money handling" jobs to apply for yet. |

Want to report another fraudster. She says that she lives in Greece (Athens) and lets her beautiful 1-bedroom apartment on Cleveland Square (close to Paddington tube station) just for 500 pounds per month!
And of course, she asks for 3 months rent to be transferred via Western Union in advance!
Her name is Yasmina. E-mail: yassmin2@gmail.com
Beware! |

AVOID PAUL RUSSELL ALSO - TRYING TO SELL A FLAT IN PIMLICO russellpaul40@yahoo.co.uk
"Hi,
I work in a hospital and is very hard for me to come in UK. I can't take the risk to leave my new job for days and when I arrive in UK to see that I come for nothing. I want to be 100% sure that when I will meet you, we do the rent papers then i can come back in Italy.
So i can be sure of that look how we can do:
You make the payment from your name and address to your best friend name and address in UK using MoneyGram for 2 months rent that means 1040 GBP and send me the scanned receipt. As soon as I see the scanned receipt that you have made the payment...." etc etc |
