Hi,

I've received the following e-mails. My correspondence is running from the most recent first downwards. I think it's the beginning of a scam but don't know. Can anyone help?

I almost bought something from Tina Burton too. Got exactly the same transaction ID from the supposed courier company as well - BWUI16Q9G791E657.

Got my friend in London to ring 124 Euston Road, and found no Catherine Edwards there. Therefore I am led to think that this is a scam.

Do you guys have any other encounters?

As i am employed as an IT security advisor i am fully aware that there are many ways to fake paypal transactions and other banking transactions. Also as you are possibly aware there has been plenty of fraudulent campaigns which are hosted from the African subcontinent, If you would still like the item to be sent can you email your details and when the funds are in my hand i will then post the item to your UK address only.

Items such as laptops are in great demand so i would rather keep it as a paper weight than let someone try and scam me out of it.

I then checked Paypal and of course no funds were there so i immediately called Paypal and they verified that this was a scam so i emailed the buyer and told him off and this is what he wrote:

I found him calling the FBI the funniest part of all this, so i decided to play along with it and told him I had a father that worked In the CIA and gave him his Badge# and also to expect the Nigerian Officers to be knocking on his door in a couple of minutes, then i blocked him.

Its crazy what low life's can try to do to scam people that actually work hard to save the cash they have.

I have had another 3 emails from my supposed buyer, i had the bogus paypal email.

paypal informed me that thier mail will always be at @paypal.com
never anything else, they said that Nigerian scam artists are the pirates of the planet at present.
These nigerians also have an official looking western union email with all headers etc too, it is as good if not better than the bogus paypal one.

Western Union said they do not offer an escrow service for nigeria so there will never be an email requesting shipping details from them before they release your money either.

If the money is not in your hand, do not send anything to the bogus bastards.

I eventually sent a bogus shipping number and was informed that there may be a problem with the payment due to banking practices and nigerian import export taxes and that I WOULD BE REQUIRED to provide my banking details so that i could be verified as a legitimate seller and not a fraudster......

I think that it is the best manner because both of us are protected.
