|
|
| Im finding it increasingly difficult to find landlords as some "pose" as landlords but are actually agents working on their behalf and as i dont have enough to cover the admin costs not to mention the credit checks and proof of earnings agents want i cannot go with an agent. If anyone could give me advice on how to find a decent one bedroom flat in these areas with landlords willing to take housing benefit tennants. Please reply I am truly desperate. |

| there not really much advice you can get if a landlord does not accept houseing benefits they dont if they do then they do but apart from that not sure what more can be done for them to accept houseing benefits cant force them to accept it or nothing or maybe trying to persuade them to accept it.. |

Perform a keyword search on this forum for DSS and Housing Benefit.
The request you've made for a landlord that accepts claimants is made on a virtually weekly basis and there will be lots of existing threads with advice given. |

| Sorry, do you mean SW10 as in Chelsea? As in the most expensive property in the UK? Where studio flats can cost £300,000? |

It's not a fair world is it? Whilst one struggles to pay mortgages in crummy areas |

If you're on benefits, you should jolly well live where the government put you. Sorry, but those of us who work hard and scrimp and save seem to get shafted while the freeloaders get whatever they want on a gold plate. |

of course you are welcome to rent wherever you wish!
I was making a point about the logistics of finding landlords in this area that will accept housing benefit in the context of the sheer expense of their asset (scarcity) versus the demand they receive from private tenants paying full market rent (high).
Purely a demand-supply observation.
Expensive properties=high rent= less availability for welfare claimants, I'd assume. |

sorry if it seemed i was being rude but most people assume that people on benefits are the scum of the earth and lazy scroungers when that isnt true i went to uni and have worked all my life and have lived in all areas of london. I cuurently live in marylebone which is also expensive and benefits do not cover all my rent i pay some out of my own pocket. |

Make sure that you make your search broad, instead of just looking to rent inSW10 or SW5 try areas in between. Transport links in London are good so you should have no problem in living a little outside the area that you may want.
Buy the local newspapers, classified magazines, use the internet and make sure you use all the resources at your disposal, the more that you use the better chance you have of getting a property. |
