sorry. anyhow. the reason why i'm posting on here is cos i have come to the conclusion that as a creative who wants to be creative at home etc it is a really bad idea to move into a flat sharing with the owner. not necessarily because he will mind you work but also because as a creative you will jst get frustrated with the way he will decorate and decide everything for everyone as the flat belongs to him.
also, if you plan to work at home and your intuition tells you first time that you dont really get on with the person too well, leave it+ be patient until you have found somewhere where you know you will be ok!+happy.
being in a flat in which you feel uncomfortable is as productive -artwise- or maybe even less as staying in a hostel until you have found somewhere. think carefully before moving. try and learn from your mistakes. be smarter than me
p.s. always check with the owner whether his mother has a key to the flat and just turns up without ringing the bell! ah, and ckeck the toilet lock is working before locking yourself in- or take a screwdriver just in case
hm...if you are bothered with smoke make sure you ask people how many ciggies they smoke in their room as some smokers dont think chainsmoking will affect the whole flat hm...check the central heating is working...well, i guess the best advice is, dont assume everything is ok. ASK. i wish i had. you can not ask enough questions. you are going to LIVE there. bear that in mind. GOOD LUCK.
BELIEVE YOUR INTUITION. IF YOU DO NOT THINK YOU WOULD SURVIVE A PUBMEAL WITH THE PERSON, HOW DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD LIVE WITH THEM??
hope that helps someone. some good advice can be found on oops.com, too. |
