Well done nbonney! And Emmatollman21, I really hope things do get resolved for you. If they don't, then please do contact con.fused - she has lots of helpful information - her email again: con.fused@hotmail.co.uk

Also, if any other Mr Manchester victims from London are reading this, please contact con.fused who will put you in touch with a group of us who are joining forces - numbers seem to have been the deciding factor in getting the Manchester police investigation off the ground, so let's do the same thing with the Met.

Finally, Tidy Kiwi, it is obvious from Emmatollman21's post that Mr Manchester is still operating on Gumtree. I understand that you can't name him, but could you not at least put a general warning that comes up whenever someone searches for prams for sale advising them to be particularly vigilant, because there have been a number of complaints about pram advertisements on this site. Potential buyers should be particularly wary of paying any money without seeing the goods as a number of people have paid money and received nothing. It really is awful that people are still being scammed via Gumtree by this same individual when the problem has been identified for such a long time.

Hi there, I'm new to gum tree and unfortunately have also fallen victim to this pram scam my wife and I were going to purchase a new pram.
reading the above messages on the forum it looks definate that this is the same man scamming people, I have spoken to both the Police and trading Standards.
Those of you that are waiting like us for your full refunds please be aware that there is a 30 day full refund distance selling policy from the day that you requested your refund. So technically the Police and Trading standards will do nothing until that period is up and you have not recieved your money then you can report it as fraud.

I would be grateful if any of you that have been a victim of this scam and are still waiting on getting your money back or not would let me know how you are getting on. I strongly feel that the more people that complain about this guy the sooner the Police will catch him. Sadly we've got to wait our 30days, till we can take action.

Never mind about waiting for money etc etc get in touch NOW and I'll give you the entire low-down on this sad apology for a human being and the present state of play including contacts.

The same goes for anyone else who reads this and thinks they may have been conned by this softly spoken Mancunian with the oh so camp voice who fails to deliver the goods.

TAKE CARE

Tigercat who posted earlier in this forum is the Mancunian elephant himself.

Do not be misled into contacting him. One entanglement with this tiger is enough. You don't want him getting his claws into you again.

con.fused@hotmail.co.uk will give you all the help you need.

hi everyone, my thoughts are with all of you who hasn't got there money back. It was on long hard fight.
One of the conditions was that all my previous threads were taken off gumtree which i requested which anyone of you would do, but i meant every single word of them and still do. Then it took a further 6 weeks to recieve the last of my money.

One question to Gumtree is that, Why can we not mention this mans name but he can go on Gumtree and put my partners mobile number on the casual relationship asking for sex and other things, which my partner had a laugh with the men that rang him, over 70 calls he recieved!
See what sick and sad man we have got involved with.

good luck to everyone x

We recently acquired a pink bugaboo cameleon that was publicized as coming from "West London". We delivered last week the money with an online payment, but didn't receive the pram in the agreed time. After the contact stopped replying to the phone, I searched for his name (which I had from the bank details) and found this thread.

Is there anything we can do to get back our money or the pram? Which authorities can we contact?

Maltese - I'm very sorry to hear that you have been a victim of this scam.
TIDY KIWI - this is further evidence of the urgent need for Gumtree to take more concerted action to stop this happening. I have posted on this forum and emailed you directly about this. I really do think that Gumtree owes its users a duty of care to put adequate warnings about the dangers of being ripped off. I appreciate that you cannot name the individual involved in all of our cases, but I see no reason why you cannot put up an unmissable warning that comes up whenever someone searches for prams for sale advising of the high incidence of fraud and urging particular vigilance. I would really appreciate it if you could let me have a response to this suggestion, either on this forum or by email.
Maltese - the best thing to do in the first instance is to email con.fused - her contact details are earlier in this thread. If you are in London she will put you in touch with me. A number of us are going to the police en mass tomorrow and a further group later in the month. As for trying to get your money back, it seems that the only way is to keep the pressure on him. In my case, he has contacted me stating that he will refund me in instalments over the next 14 days. However, the first instalment was promised this week and to date nothing has materialised - I have already been through the bouncing cheque stage several months ago.

I tottaly agree with you Beccles, that it is about time that Gum Tree took action and put up a warning regarding prams, and baby equipment etc..

Maltese if you are still waiting on your full refund which unfortunately by distant selling regulations you have 30 days to wait for your full refund and then you can take legal action if you do not recieve the cheque etc..
However I suggest you speak to Trading Standards and definately contact Confused.com.

If you are new to this forum (Mr Manchester has been posting on Gumtree very heavily recently) please do contact confused@hotmail.co.uk . I am also interested in talking to anyone who smelt a rat and has NOT placed their money in the hands of slimey N.

Such a pity that the rat shares a surname with a great Parsee conductor!

Hi guys,

Sorry for not replying sooner, I have been on leave.

nbonney, I will email you separately about the harassment case. I believe this has happened before, so you might want to report this to the police.

maltese and Matrix007, I will also email you separately and pass on your details to the Trading Standards officer who is investigating this case.

If anybody notices this person advertising again then please report these ads to us and we will remove them. It can be quite hard for us to pick these ads up without replying to the ads, so any help is appreciated. Some of you have my email address, so you can report them directly to myself if you wish.

Mr Manchester is still very active on and off Gumtree and this thread continues to be very effective, so deserves a top slot!

You can check him out on the web too ( pram scams) if you're not sure if he's your man.

Sorry, but are people really being legally allowed (maybe even supported) to <admin deleted> us all ?
That's how it appears to me. Lots of cases have come together and still ... this is going on since July 8th 2008.
It's gonna be 5 months soon !!!

Sorry, but that's a bad joke, right ?

What is Trading Standards doing ?
What is the Police doing ?
What is gumtree doing ?

Warning: Mr Manchester is still very active on Gumtree, and he continues to represent himself as a genuine seller of almost new, little-used buggies, using hi-jacked photos.

If you are in any doubt about the identity of the person you are trying to check out please contact con.fused@hotmail.co.uk and you will receive a speedy response. For quite understandable reasons Gumtree are loath to display his name but I will happily confirm it - and many other details also!

I will give you up-to-date information and point you in the right direction if you have already been scammed.
