thats ages , for normal cases its a few weeks, give the home office a call and ask them whats happening, exceptionally complicated case can take awhile but not 8 months.

If you used a company to help with the visa get them to chase it for you.

It depends on what country your spouse is from & where your application was made, here or in their country.

The way it works (basically) is that you make an application and it will probably take about 3 months for them to get thei interview. If they fail their interview you have 21 days to ldge an appeal. It can then take about 7 months for you case to be processed and then you receive your own interview date. Once you have had your appeal interview, it can take another 2 weeks to get a response from the Immigration Judge. If they have allowed the appeal, the documents them have to go to the spouses country which can take another 6 weeks.

Its a long, tortuous process, but is worth it in the end. Just hang in there.

I am here on a spouse visa too. I just got mine done this year in March. The normal procedure would be to go back to ur country of birth/origin and apply from there. It took about 2 weeks. If you have no answer from them by now, maybe you should contact them and see how far along the process is.

It will depend on what country your partner is coming from....

My ex was from Thailand, I spent 4 years going over to see her as often as I could... I work for myself and earn a good wage, I also own property and I have no criminal convictions..... BUT I could not get her a visa... I applied 4 times , eventually they said if I marry her I can have the visa...I did not want to get married just to ad to the over inflated ego of the embassy officials.

Now I can't wait to retire and move to Thailand ...

When ever someone says or I read in the paper about our over populated prisons thanks to all the criminals from Eastern Europe coming her I get so mad........

Good luck to you my friend ... I know how pain-full it can be to be without the one you love just for the sake of '''RED TAPE '''

The Thai people were on our side in ww2, 100s of 1000s of them were killed by the Japs for helping our boys escape the horrors of the Jap prison / work camps..... BUT the Japs have NO PROBLEMS coming over here.....

You can get the visa in 24 hours if you have all the paperwork.

Getting the paperworks going to take a week. Start at the IOM and they'll send you to the hospital of all places.

Good luck
