Has anyone ever had more than the first email i.e. a follow up to your reply? Or was it simply a one-off spam email (or emails in chris1502's case...)

omg, i got an email from this address earlier with the name "josh", i had been a bit sus of another one i got the other day although i have no reason to be (you know when something doesnt feel right?), anyway i replied to "josh" and was quite excited at the idea of maybe selling my item, so glad i googled it now and found this. This is by far the most annoying thing i have ever come across, all of a sudden i CANNOT use this site anymore without being ambushed by Nigerians!

I have had them attempt to scam me with everything from adopting a pet to selling blurays! Its fuc*ing disgusting that they think we are simple enough to fall for it, in fact its damn frustrating.

Once again, another day at work searching for a pup has led me to several Nigerians. Just look at the following chain of emails, see how he drops his act the moment i uncover him as a fraud! and surely the British Goverment would get involved if it was £3000 a day!!!!

Just wondering, but rather than moan and groan on here, why dont someone or everyone inundate crimewatch with the same information as the police wont do a thing, if they get enough people asking them to do the same thing, then wont they investigate, and they can find out where these people are and catch them and hopefully stop (for a short time as least) them.

I then forwarded the number to "PayPal" and to them.

The response I got from "PayPal" was very strange indeed.

So I took a photo of the receipt on my phone (at the advice of my lovely scammers) and sent it along.

"PayPal" got back to me, saying;

I replied that it would take them two minutes to check the tracking number on the Royal Mail website and that if they didn't get back to me within ten, I would contact Manchester Police.

Lo and behold, "Pauline" replies off her own back saying that PayPal has sent her an error E-mail, and that she will get back to me when she knows the issue.

Now this is where it gets really funny.

These were my replies;

Dear Me,

Congratulation !!!!!Your Order has been dispatched for delivery into your PayPal Account address provided and this will be received in a couple of hours.We are very sorry for the late Delivery.

But there is a problem about the payment sent to you, Our Accounting Department has made an error with your payment which means a total of £310.00 GBP was sent to you instead of £210.00 GBP.

Oh, dear! Well not to worry, I'll do that first thing tomorrow (it was about midnight). Goodnight!

Yes, I was dedicated to the bit, but not enough to send 100 pounds today.

The bad news is, they will receive the package today.

The good new is that when they open it, all they will find is a recorded delivery note saying "You must think I'm really stupid"

When I got the first email saying that he/she wanted the phone right away i was like wow that was easy! I was however uneasy after an hour or so and wanted to see if this was a scam. So I typed up the email address and added gumtree in google search and sure enough it brought me to this page!

Invaluable insight on how they try to scam. I dont think I would have fallen for it anyway. I may have gone up until the point of giving my paypal email.

I lead the scammer on for about a week....they reali dont give up once you give them a hint that you are going to send money. Absolutely love what you did tho! Well done!

A lil about me : Am a 25years old fashion designer, very friendly and adventurous, I only Drink occasionaly but don't smoke, I am quiet, easy going, fun to be with and open minded.I like to keep the flat clean and tidy and would require the same too from any tenant.I am a christian by religion,my hobbies are Hiking, singing, watching soccer and going to the cinema's.

Your name (as sender) to your Friend (as Receiver) in London or other parts of UK.

2) Scan & Send a copy of the Western Union Money Transfer transaction receipt as a proof of the transaction or mail me the transaction details. (The money is safe as it is only you that can withdraw since you need a national ID card or International passport)

3) Then, we will meet for viewing.

4) If you decide to take the room, we will go to any local Western Union Money Transfer office pick up the money and pay me. (You don't need to come with cash to view, after viewing we will go together, you will cancel the transfer and withdraw the money to pay me)

5) Keys will be handed over to you after signing the contracts.

I am pretty sure that the transaction at Western Union Money Transfer office will require some charges, i will definitely refund the transaction charges back to you upon viewing and if you don't see what i sent as pictures of my flat to you, you are free to leave without paying me anything.

ask for plans of the place

ask for the tenancy agreement etc etc

ie every minute they are chasing up stuff for you is a minute less scamming

I'm an open mind Person, I love honest people, and I hate cheating in whatever I saw cos I don't want be cheated as well. It has a Central Air and Heat,refrigerator,dishwasher,dryer,oven,internet,Cable TV,Air conditioner...It also has a garage and I'm ready to accept either monthly or upfront mode of payment..depending on the one you're most comfortable with..Utilities include: power, water,sewer and trash..Your monthly rent already covers utilities so you do not have to pay extra charges for that i`m not renting it because of money but just because i need someone to stay in the House and also from the way you write you seems to be a good tenant I can let the place to you, I Have Attached You The tenancy Form . Thanks for your mail..I'm so glad that you are very much interested in renting my flat.I want to let you know that the flat is available for both short term and long term rent.All the bills are included in the rent .I have some few questions will like to ask you?.

1. Do you have a pet?
2. How many of you are coming to live in my flat?
3. Can you take care of my flat as it is?
4. Can you bring your identity passport when coming for viewing?
5. How many months do you intend to rent and pay for?
6. Do you have references in UK?

I am happy to hear that you are very much interested in my flat and i also hope you are not one of those time wasters.The rent has been confirmed per month and refundable deposit as well to you.I want you to understand that i have had a lot of disappointment in having inviting people in the past and it is sad to confirm on the spot of viewing that 80% of viewer still depend on money that are not visible.Therefore i will appreciate it,if you truly like my property to go ahead with a money transfer of at least a month rent and a security deposit which is £850 GBP to your friend's name as the receiver through a money transfer agent,such as money gram post office.It is a very simple test that you need to do in order to be sure of your finances as some candidate have been producing fake bank statements and pay slip to proof their financial capability of rent my property.This simple test brought up in order to be sure of your financial capability of payment for my flat and i hope you are not one of the time wasters cos i have experience a lot of case where candidate won't be able to pay for their rent after the first 2month while some will be owning 3-5 month rent.Also be cautious of who you drop or show your bank statement to,because it is very risky in doing and the Residential Landlords Association has warned us against this..This simple method does not require any of your details in any form.

The process of making the transfer is stated below so you can be sure that it does not require any of your bank details .

1. Locate the nearest post office shop around you..

2..Pick up the form of transfer and fill in the details which needs to be filled and return back to the post master.Details needed on the form are {sender name;your name and address.} {receiver name and address} the receiver will be your reference or partner's address

3.Return back to the post master with the cash you are transferring to your reference or any partner in united kingdom or reference and wait for the receipt to be returned back to you..

4.Give me a call so i can check it if its truly genuine and available in reference custody....

5.After it has been confirmed on the website,then we can proceed for the viewing and you can as well tell your references or to pick up the money.

Note: I have not told you to send money to me,but which you can transfer the money between you and your reference or any of your friends/partner just for my lawyer to make confirmation if you are presently capable of paying for my rent.
