Hi,
I thought I might just share my experience with people thinking about trading overseas I will list a few pointers I have used that have managed to keep me safe.
1. Logo's / Branding
Alot of fake wholesalers in China offer many products with that are copies or claim they are original. Be very aware that customs does not allow anything with logos. There are fake sellers out there that offer mobile phones and say they are original and you can buy lots very cheap - Do not fall for it, major comandies such as nike, nokia etc are very strict on who they sell thier items in bulk to.
2. Payment
Yes there are alot of wholesalers that request T/T and western union. which I do not like but sometimes have to as alot of genuine wholesalers do use these terms of payment.
DO NOT pay any money into someones personal account. If they are a legit business they will have a company business account. Back off if they say that they have no business account
3. Verifying your wholeseller
Type thier email address into google see what pops up, try to find reviews.
Ask them for thier manufacturing certificate if they are a manufacturer, if they give you excuses, forget about them and move on.
Find out how long the business has been trading both online and offline, and try to find something to back up what they say.
4. Websites and email addresses
From experience I never trust a business that has a free website hosted on a free server, what does that say about the wholesaler?
Hotmail addresses, yahoo addresses and google mail. If they are using a XXX@hotmail.com or XXXX@yahoo.co.uk. What does that say? they have been trading fo so and so years and they cnt even afford a professional email to go along with thier business!?!
5. Important
If it's too good to be true it probably is - When it comes down to it, you have to trust your instincts, asoon as you have spotted a flaw, back away and move on.
******IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CLUE USE AN OUTSOURCING AGENT****
I hope this helps some of you out there thinking about importing goods! Better safe then being sorry |
