I posted a warning regarding a more or less identical ad when they tried to trick me about one month ago. I even called the guy called "Fred" on the phone and told him off. Obviously, those are the same people, stupid enough to use the same sentences and even names.

I called the Metropolitan police, pointing out that there is a phone number to track down and possibly an IP adress and about three e-mails in which they tried to trick me. According to the Mets, as long as you are not a victim (i.e. did not loose money to those people), you are not entitled to press charges. I am not quite sure how many victims it needs, and why they are disinclined to investigating for attempted fraud. Meanwhile, it's good to help ourselves and other people through this posts.

The Police can't investigate these 070 telephone numbers because they are NOT mobiles. They are (Premium Rate) 'forwarding' numbers which look like a UK mobile but which redirect the call to any phone anywhere in the world!

So not only are they untraceable, they are charging you to call them!

Il'll tell you a little bit of me: I am a ***** with a permanent job looking for a studio for a long term stay. I will definitively look after the property as it was mine (I can provide you reference of a landlord where I have bee staying for nearly one and half year), I am a very neet and tidy person so there are no problem. I never had a garden but I guess I can challege myself as well with gardening.

Can you better explain the structure of the deposit because I am not quite sure I have understand what you meant. You want me to pay the first two month in advance and on top of 2 months advance payment, you want extra 300 so that the deposit would actually be 550+300=850 (assuming that one of the 2 month advance payment are refered to the current month)? Are you happy if I ask you to put the deposit with a third party so we are both protected?

Can you tell me if I have to pay anything to third parties such as letting fees or credit check or anything else? The reason why I am asking is that last time a signed a contract I have been initially told that the fees was GBP100 where at the end it come out to be GBP250 (really upsetting). I paid only becase I didn't want to look for another place but I was fourious with the letting agent.

This morning I have emailed several landlords but I don't recall which was your announcment. In gum three I have tried to call back the announcment number #43015772 but it seems desappeared, and just before fixing an appointment I wish to read the announcment again.

Thanks for the email and nice to read from you,i can assure you of the viewing but i will like to discuss some thing with you, as you know am in Ireland currently and before i can come down for the viewing i will like to see a proof of your financial capacity and to know how serious you are in need of the property because i have been fooled so many times and i will not let that to happen to me again, Been fooled by several tenant telling me to come from Ireland to London to show them my property but when i got there for the viewing they will never show up and when i called there phone they will keep on banging the phone on me so it has been a very sad and disappointing occasion for me and i waste alot of money also for transport when coming for the viewing, so i don't want that to happen to me anymore,well this is what you will have to do for me before i can come down for the viewing, If you have a partner or friend in UK,what you will have to do is to locate a western union money transfer around you and transfer the the security deposit plus 2 month rent to your partner's name or your friend's name,after you've made the transfer finish you will be given a receipt from the western union agent,you will have to scan and email me the receipt to make the confirmation from western union if you made any transaction from them or not, immediately i made the confirmation from them and i confirm that you have made the transfer through them then i will give you a call to tell you to go and pick your money back from western union when i have made the confirmation finish and let you know where we going to meet for the viewing, I will want you to read this and understand me better, just to let you know this am not asking you to send me any money before showing you my property but i just need a proof through western union receipt, I want you to know that there are so many people who have sent me fake bank statement and reference for a proof but it's all fake, and moreover i don't like interfering with other people's privacy so i will not like to see any reference from anywhere or bank statement, (am sorry for sounding rude) but as you know i need to tell you my feelings and what is pitching me.

When you go to make the payment at western union the agent will ask you for what you make the payment,with what purpose because a large part of real estate agencies have announced western union not to make transaction for rent a flat because they have lost a lot of clients since the clients don't like to pay commission to agency.So we use western union to prove me that you have the money and in the future you will pay only the rent without the commission to agency,without charges,To avoid this because I think you don't want to pay more charges you must tell at western union agent that you send the money to one of your friend or some budy in your family because she need the money and western union is a fast method make the payment, because if you tell them that you make any prove for rent a flat they will advice you not to do this .

However, concerning viewing the flat................... i had bad experience with some future tenant..... It might interest you to know that someone call me down to Derby base on the fact that he want to view my flat and make payment by cash but to my surprise after the viewing he presented me with a post dated cheque which will clear at the bank for at least five working days and it happen that i was there on Friday you can imagine how i feel on that day as am on a very tight schedule on that day i have to leave without letting out the flat although he apologize to me but am just too busy to waste my time on speculations a similar case happen to me recently..................... to prevent such happening again i have to conclude that anybody that want to view my flat which am sure that nobody will view it and will not want to rent it will need to show me an evidence that he/she can pay me by cash am sorry if am too strict but i will want you to show me an evidence that you can pay me by cash.................. what i will like you to do is very simple ..............Go to any Money gram or Western union agent close to you and transfer Deposit to your friend's name,your flatmate's name or anybody you trust within uk as i don't want you to send me any money before viewing but make sure you come to the viewing along with the original receipt given to you at the Western union outlet or Money gram outlet then mail me the date you want us to meet in Crosby Street, Derby,
for the viewing of the flat remember am not asking you to send me money mean while after the viewing and you are okay with the flat we will sign the lease agreement then you pay me in cash while the subsequent payment will be to my bank account ...

Note:you must come with the receiver of the payment to the viewing because immediately after the viewing you are to locate the nearest Western union in other to cash the money for me.you in other to deposit it i will then set up a direct debit for the subsequent rent since am not based in Derby

Please Chantelle try to understand my point here i am not asking you to pay me any cash before viewing my property all i asked for is a Deposit proof £300 via Western or moneygram to your partner's name(?)and get back to me with the scan copy of the western union receipt for me to see what you have done along with the best time you want us to meet up in Derby and immediately after the viewing,the receiver of the payment ( could be You or a partner )would locate the nearest W/U outlet to my property and cash the deposit for me in other for me to secure the apartment for you against your moving in dates in Jan. whilst the first month rent will be paid into my account by direct debit once you move in on January,i would also be responsible for the transfer fee by deducting the commission from the money to be transferred at western union because am pretty sure there will be commission according to what i read via their website and also there is nothing to be worried about my property i can assure you of that.

Thanks for the reply.I spoke to my lawyer concerning the interest you have for my flat and we would be more than willing to have you in our flat,It is unfortunate that my past bitter experience of inviting people to come and view my flat without any form of confirmation of their financial ability and not keeping up to time as at when scheduled, has brought about great loss to me. I have traveled all the way from Ireland to take some interested candidates round my flat because that's where i work with M. Gould (Scunthorpe) Ltd.

Some outside tenants do not have the money to pay the rent and yet they disturb the the landlord to arrange a viewing with their friend or relative who are in Plymouth, also some do not meet up with the appointments which has led to the dismissal of some landlords in office by there employees.

Henceforth my lawyer and i have decided to carry out a simple test on financial ability to pay for my rent before coming for viewing. I would not ask you to send your bank statement. At least 2 weeks rent and security deposit which is £ 500 which is refundable after your first week stay in my flat, would be required from you to transfer through western union transfer agent. You can make the transfer with your name as a sender name and your partner or friend in UK premises as a receiver.

Once you have done this, Scan the receipt to me and if you do not have scanner, you may write out the details on the receipt as i will send it to my lawyer to verify if it's truly genuine and available in your friend's custody, after verification, then we can proceed for the viewing and you can as well tell your friend or partner to pick up the money and also, i will refund back to you the cost of transfer when we meet.
