Does anyone know a recruitment agency which is good for temporary secretarial and admin jobs and what are their rates of pay for temporary assignments?

What do you think of high street agencies such as Brooks Street, Reed and Office Angels?

Just about every agency that deals with that sort of work will have loads more candidates than they need. If its temp work you are looking for, I would advise signing up with all of them and keeping your phone on.

I would recommend signing up to many as you can as well.

But also, invest some time in your CV, make sure it has the correct type of key works, and information that they will be looking for

£7-8/hour. Once I found a place paying £10/hour but that was an exception. I also worked for as little as £6.50 but again, that was unusual.

Hi there!!

There are lot of recruitment agencies out there. Just prepare a good CV and register with all of 'em. After all there are no looking charges Wink. Preferably look for the ones that get their commission from the employer so you are taken off that stress and can just concentrate on the job you have at hand.

Hope it helps Smile.

A good recruitment agency is basically one where you are not charged up front for use of facilities that should be free ie; cv preparation or pc access.

I've found that recruiters within an agency can vary, in terms of feedback and helpfulness. My view is to keep in touch with those that are helpful as they often move to other agencies. Finding the right agencies can help also.. e.g. if you're an IT manager, look for agencies that specialise in IT, or even better IT management. Having a good CV helps as well. There are companies that can help with both.

If you're London based, you may want to try Secs in The City. My wife found a secretarial job through them last year.

Like said before, admin type of jobs are in so short supply that just register with every single agency you can find

You should never pay money upfront though, that's dodgy

the public sector seems to be doing better than the private sector at the moment so you may want to approach your local council directly
