This post is just to warn people who would be tempted to work for Snapfax (a student discount card distributed in universities) in the future.
I worked for them and none of the other people who did the job have been paid (4 months after end of job). We had to make a claim to the employment tribunal. I learned that the same thing happened in Edimburgh.
Don't work for them! If you did and haven't been paid, just ask me for info on how to make a claim at the employment tribunal. |

| How many Snapfax are sold in Edinburgh? I thought staff get paid in commissions. From my observation, students walk right past the Snapfax sellers on the campus and not buy it, and these businesses must have paid a fortune to get their names in the discount booklet. Correct me if I'm wrong! |

I have run teams of SnapFax sellers in both Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Both me and my team get paid on commission and walk away with our earning's every single day so there is no way not to be paid.
I don't know how many SnapFax were sold in Edinburgh last year but we sold 20000 in Aberdeen 2008. Edinburgh sell a lot more than that and Glasgow do even more still.
With the number of SnapFax sold every year I can assure you that the company's are getting there money's worth for what they pay on advertising in the student SnapFax. Not to mention the money people who buy a SnapFax save every year on club entry fee's, drinking and eating ect.
Any more questions you may have just leave a reply and I will answer them best I can when I'm online.

| Thanks for your comment; it was very insightful. However, many Edinburgh salon owner compete with a few other salons in on the same street who are ALSO in Snapfax. The 40% off first-visit offer has had an adverse effect on salons because Snapfax were bought by city workers who can buy them in Princes Street, and so the salons have no choice but to give these non-students 40% discount. |

Contra to popular belief SnapFax isn't just for students although they are the primary target market. When businesses give the detail's of the promotion they want advertised in the SnapFax they have to give all the detail's they want to have on there page, Some ads say student ID required, that's because they only offer that particular discount to students. It's down to they advertising manager to take care of the details for the promotions, they just don't tell there staff the details which unfortunately happens in a lot of company's "brake down in communication that is". Me personally I don't think there should be a problem as long as they do a good job because that's the hole point in promoting, to offer a discount to get the costomer in the door, then do a good enough job to make sure that consumer returns time and time again.

What is snapfax?
I know it's some form of student discount card but what does it offer
discounts on ?
And is it available in scottish universities only or is it nationwide? |
