Generally, the new layout isn't much of an improvement over the old one. Personally, I don't see that the old layout needed improving.
I'm only speaking about the layout in the Casual Relationships section, but I assume this applies to other sections as well
There are a couple of notable, and very unhelpful, omissions in the new layout:
1) Although the entries are grouped according to the date they were posted, there is no indication at all of the time they were posted. This could be easily solved by adding "Posted :" and the time of posting
2) In the page selector, for some reason the current page is set, apparently by default, to page 17. To enable a user to go directly to page 1, which would probably be the first page a user would want to view, a button to do this was included in the old layout. This has been omitted from the new layout.
A simple way to resolve this would be to set the default to page 1, which would make adding the button unnecessary. |

| Gotta agree....I prefered the old layout with the posting times displayed too. |

What does it matter which city someone is using - the displays should be consistent. (I'm using the Edinburgh site, by the way)
Regarding the times of posting, they are still nowhere to be found. It hasn't been explained where they've gone - and more importantly why the whole layout has been changed (for the worse, in my opinion. The person who designed this layout should be taken out and shot)
Additionally, the page selector still displays page 17 when the site is first visited, which displays postings about a week to 8 days old. I would expect that anyone looking at the site would want to see the latest postings on page 1, right ?
To get to the latest postings, I have to click on 13, then click on 9, then click on 5, then click on 1. Presumably the new layout is intended to improve the look of the site, and make it easier to use.
I'd hardly call the above process an improvement, would you ? |

It matters what city because we are testing out new layouts on some cities which so it is good to get feedback on the specific cities so we know what people like or not.
Also what sections are you looking at on Edinburgh |

Well, I certainly don't like it
Regarding my point about the page selector, actually the old layout started off at page 17 as well. Admittedly there was a button to jump to page 1, but I would think that if an adjustment could be made so that page 1 was displayed first, this would solve the problem, and the button wouldn't be required.
I would think that most people visiting the site would expect to see the latest postings straight away, not the ones from a week or so back. |

Hey, so there's never been the time of a post, only the date. Double checked that with a few people. And the date is showing in Glasgow, I just checked it here. Screen shot below:

The time of posting always used to be shown (it gave you a pointer if you were likely to be the first caller...some things sell really fast!) the date thing was never the issue! |

| You 100 000% sure? Where was this time placed? I have spoken to a few people here and they say Gumtree has never posted time of publishing |

| Absolutely certain Jon, the times used to be over on the right hand side of each advert showing how long ago it was posted (ie- 'posted 20 mins ago') |

Never ?
Try looking at the Newcastle site (old layout, by the way)
I know the times aren't exact, but they are a good indication of when the article was posted. |

You really want to go back & kick their backsides Jon, we're not pulling your leg here, the times used to appear as- 'posted 55 minutes ago' or 'posted 7 hours ago'.....a slightly different & more acurate format to that currently shown on the Newcastle site. |

Oh right, I've worked it out. Newcastle is actually the NEW layout with the new added feature of time. I will let the product team know that you guys like that feature which will help towards getting it rolled out across the site.
Phew! Thought I was going mad! |

A couple of weeks ago nobody from Gumtree was aware that adverts weren't going live on Sundays, now nobody seems to know that times were previously displayed beside the adverts!!
Do the bods running this site know what they're actually doing?....Its hardly professionalism at its best! |

| No I was asking the wrong questions. I was asking for time posted in the old layouts when in actual fact its in the new layouts |
