I thought I would post this forum to let all job seekers know that they should stay away from the CVTrumpet service: http://www.cvtrumpet.co.uk/.
Their guarantees and claims on their website are worthless. The company do not have consultants that proactively and promptly reply to email queries or phone calls.
I have received more calls and potential job prospects looking for work on my own than I did paying for CVTrumpet's service.
After the company claimed to have distributed my CV to a list of their recruitment agents I did not receive a single call from any agent who had received my CV from CVTrumpet.
Please save you money and invest in services that would actually benefit your job hunt. |

Hi there,
CVtrumpet responded to my query the same day and forwarded my CV
to a large number of targeted recruiters the day after I registered.
The service provided me with some excellent contacts and interviews. I would use the service again and would certainly recommend.
It has helped several of my friends over the years -- all were looking for between 30k and 100k.
The site is at www.cvcheatingratbags.co.uk

I agree with "cdcruz" my experience has been very similar. I got constant spamming from them and eventually thought "why not?" since I had been out of work for a couple of months. And this is what companies like this play on - I figured that it had to be worth a try - surely something is better than nothing.
Unfortunately in my experience using CVTrumpet was the exact equivalent of nothing - EXCEPT they got 40 quid out of me. I have seen no evidence of any success whatsoever. It's not like I am in a strange sector or have a week CV profile or anything - I am an IT Manager/IT Project Manager and have been shortlisted and interviewed several times without CV Trumpet's help. It is the market that is the problem - not the candidates - CV Trumpet cannot change the market.
Nobody can deny that it is a tough market but then CV Trumpet offers its guarantees of success or your money back - but be careful of this. The options are a CV review and resend OR your money back. I misunderstood this and had the CV review (apparently - I have asked what the outcome of this was - I heard nothing?) and resend and they still have done nothing for me.
Keep your money - there is no quick and easy way to fight this tough market. I have joined several "premium" websites - and none of them have done a thing over and above my own efforts. I have also read a book called The Invisible Candidate by Anthony Haley after being spammed by him. Again - no use whatsoever and offered no advice that you cannot get from a book for free from your local library.
My opinion is that these people find the tough market as good business opportunities for them and we all think that 15 quid here, 20 quid there are all worthwhile investments. I have not had any return for my investments so far and there are other ways of getting what you need without paying for the service. You can get free CV reviews and the recruitment agencies tend to help with your CV if you can show that you have the right skills for the position.
One last thing for me is that I can't believe I fell for the CV Trumpet trick. As a hiring manager myself I have been receiving spam emails from companies offering this candidate and that candidate for years and I deleted EVERY SINGLE ONE. As I said earlier - you have to look at what other people are doing and try anything but don't be fooled. Maybe there is an unadvertised job market - I can't see evidence either way - but I don't believe you can buy your way into that market.
I tried CV Trumpet and it didn't work. Only 40 quid - but keep your money and use it to buy a nice new shirt and tie for your next interview instead. |

Just to add my view on the current market/service as I used cvtrumpet in September 07 and again on the 27th of April, 09.
In 07 I got a good response from recruiters (several contacts leading to two interviews and one offer). In 09 the contacts were fewer, which I expected (I got four phone calls from recruiters and one face to face interview).
While the market has certainly changed, the service did give me some value both times. I'm an IT manager based in Surrey.
Regards,
Rich |

| Quick update: After I moaned at CV Trumpet and a brief review of the options they have refunded my money. I don't know why their actions bore no fruit for me but they admitted themselves that a refund may be the best option even after a quick review of my CV. |

I found CVtrumpet to be an efficient service and it got me several calls/emails from recruiters.
I think that if you've been looking yourself for several months and already sent your CV to hundreds of places, there may not be much they can do.
If you've recently started your job search, it's a quick way to get your CV out to specific recruitment companies.

| Hi - Some excellent feedback above - CV Trumpet are absolute rubbish. The "CV REVIEW" is basically a ploy to get you to use their partner CV writing service and the point about "£15 here £30 there" is very true. These low-life parasitic leeches know that the drip-drip of spam wears people down and if they are in a specific situation then, like me, they will crack and give it a go. You will have much more success going it alone and working with one or two professional recruiters (not many of those around either). |

I had a very decent CV review and the CV forwarding service was a lot better than any of the free services I used, in term of contact from recruiters. In short, CVtrumpet worked very well for me.
All recruiters are opted in to the service and so they are expecting CVs. They are also given the CVs for free from CVtrumpet, whereas job boards charge, so they have more recruiters to forward your CV to. |

Just wanted to add my take on CVtrumpet...
I've used the service recently (March) and it did what it said - it got my CV to targeted recruiters, some of whom got in touch with me, and this resulted in some emails and phone calls which then led to 2 interviews. My one support query was answered the next day and the service obviously worked for me.
For those that have been searching for six months or more, and have already sent your CV to thousands of recruiters and employers already, there's probably not a lot they can do for you. If you've recently started your job search though and want to get your CV to a large number of recruiters quickly, CVtrumpet should certainly give your job search a boost, as it did mine. |

I agree with Alexis, if you've been on the market for months and have sent your CV to hundreds of places already, sending out your CV isn't the issue.
I'd recently started my job search (about 6 weeks) when I found and used CVtrumpet. It worked very well for me and very quickly too. |

Hi,
I have tried them AND I can confirm that CV trumpet is a big money creating SCAM!
I payed around 40Pound and did not get any response from a recruiting company!!
Where was my CV then send to?
I usually get contacted by job agents - so my CV can't be that bad AND I asked them for my money back.
The reaction was an automatic response of the sort "that they would take care of it"- it is now more than 1 month ago and I haven't heard from them since that date!
Beware and don't be as blind and silly as I acted by signing up for their not existing service! |

Please Please Please do not use companies like CV Trumpet.
I have worked in Recruitment for the past teb years (8 in Agencies and 2 In House) and I have never come across companies like CV Trumpet. Recruiters will spend a fortune on advertising each year and by doing a simple search on the likes of google will show you a list of Recruitment Agencies.
Failing that, try posting your CV on the following websites:
Monster
Totaljobs
Reed
Its FREE to do so and ALL Recruitment Agencies will have access to this. On these websites they will search for CV's depending on the positions they have available. Trust me, by adding your CV to one of websites you should be flooded with contact from Recruitment Agencies.
Also, do not fall into the habit of siging up with every agency that contacts you. This actually works against you and if a potential employer receives your CV from a number of different agencies it actually starts alarm bells ringing! Be selective in your approach as all agencies have the same contacts!
Finally, you should NEVER part with any money whilst searching for employment. I appreciate that you may start to feel desparate but there are other options available to you. If your stuck for ideas and feeling a bit desparate please feel free to contact me and I will advise further.
Many thanks

CVTrumpet worked very well for me and I got the contacts I was looking for, enabling me to make a career move.
Unlike the other job search sites, CVTrumpet doesn't charge recruiters for the service, and so they have a huge number of recruiters on board that they can forward your CV to.
For those that don't get results first time, they do offer a CV review
and another sendout of your CV for free or a refund, so anyone needing this might want to get in touch with them. |

As a recruiter I have used the CVtrumpet service for around 6 years, and so feel that I am qualified to comment on the service from a recruiter's perspective.
I have placed several people from the service over the years, so I can say that from a recruiters point of view, it is useful. It has also obviously been useful for the candidates that I have placed.
=====How It Works=====
CVtrumpet provides recruiters with targeted CVs for free. Recruiters tell CVtrumpet what type of candidates they are looking to interview (job type, industry, salary, location and the like).
CVtrumpet then sends the CVs of matching candidates to recruiters.
I joined online and can change the type of CVs I get at any time.
This works very well for me as I get very specific CVs from candidates that are looking now, sent directly to me.
On CVtrumpet I get to choose from about 110+ job types and 55 industries.
=====How It Is Different=====
Most job boards charge the recruiter. This can be any from £200 per month to several thousand pounds per year.
CVtrumpet does not charge recruiters for the CV sending service and this I should imagine would help them to add new recruiters and keep existing ones in their network.
When I post a job ad on a job board, I'll usually get about 60 to 90 responses... most will not be suitable and I'll probably speak with 3 or 4.
When I get a CV from CVtrumpet, it is usually very relevant as they only send me CVs that match my (narrow) criteria, so there is less filtering. CVtrumpet charges the candidate for the CV sending service, although just adding your CV to the database is free.
=====Who Should and Shouldn't Use=====
Those who would like to get their CV to a large number of specific recruiters quickly may want to take a look. I recruit in the £40k to £100k space and it works well for me as a recruiter (and the candidates I have placed).
Those who have already sent their CV to hundreds of places and not got results should consider getting CV writing/cover letter or other help instead. People with a lot of time or who can't afford the £30 to £50 may want to try all of the free services.
Those looking outside of the UK should not use (it's a UK only service).
===== Contacting Them======
A couple of people asked for the phone number and email... just follow the links from the contacts page or go here:

Isn't it illegal for a job agency to charge the client?
Bette ride and totally free, I got a job in two weeks (mind you I worked 8 hrs a day to do it) http://www.jobsite.co.uk/ it does take about a week to kick in and I seriously reccomend not using your main mobile number if you are already working and cant take calls at work but they do deliver as they are connected to newspapers in most counties! |
