The amount of spam in there is horrendous. "Postings advertising professional services will not be admitted." yet so many are.
Mods/ admin: Im sure its possible to change a few settings to prevent any ads being posted that have web links in them?
Its definitely possible to take the recurring key phrases from these spam ads and use the swear filter to turn them into "spam/phishing ad, do not reply to this or give credit card details"
IP range bans?
A decent % of this problem can be dealt with... if Gumtree want to deal with it, that is..... |

| All UK cities. Im sure some are worse than others, but it definitely affects all of them |

Yeah we do have lots of fail safes and we are working on a few new implementations which should knock the bad guys into touch!
Sorry I can't be more specific but as you can imagine, if I start revealing our security secrets here, it'll help the baddies figure out a way around them |

I cant understand it....I have pasted a few ads before in the men seeking women section and they were deemed to be for the wrong section or too racy...but in the women seeking men section it looks like (and I have clicked on quite a few) 95% of them are scams or selling "services" or links to other scam sites or offering sex.... What happened to the moderators?
Surely it cant be that hard to sort the wheat from the chaff in these matters. There ARE relevent sections for these ads....lets see some genuine ads tho....please!!!!!!!!!!  |
