I thought that'd be plus rent, council tax, dog food, etc, and paid work for up to 16 hours a week... |

i know it is not easy, but a mobile can cost less be for £10 per month only. you can get hundreds of free minutes for that
regarding to the gas and power: get warmely dressed at home instead heating it like a hell, use lights only if you are in that room, not a whole house all the time (there are plenty of tips how to save money for this), wash the dishes in a sink instead under a running tap and have shower, not bath... actually - english people do not rinse their dishes. yuk!
i do not have TV and i still live. all i need can be found on internet. even some programs can be watched there.
travel? where? to the 16 hours of job? i heard, you get paid for it, dont you?
i know this may sound a pretty odd to someone spoilt.
but you will become a hero. this is a great opportunity how to cut down emissions of carbon dioxide. your government will bless you
(sorry for being a bit sarcastic, it was not the intention of this post)
no, you cannot LIVE on that money, but you can SURVIVE till you find a job again. this country already is too deep in debts, and it is giving you money that actually does not have. and it will be worse. |

i do not have time for tv. i am busy with other my hobbies.
why to pay for tonnes of adverts that disrupt the programs all the time?
actually: why to watch rubbish programs at all?
or why to keep and pay for tv if i do not watch it?
i do not think i am missing something in my life witout tv.
i used to be a cauch potato many years ago. as a teenager.

if only i knew what "corrie" is...
i can see that plenty of magazines are full of someones faces i do not know. i recognise some of them, but there are new faces coming all the time, from soaps, from music, from wherever... i just cannot keep up.
and actually i dont really need to.
many like to watch other people`s lives, but hardly can manage their own. |

| they'll disregard the first £20.00 you earn then reduce your JSA pound for pound after that... And of course your council tax and housing benefits will be reduced too... Sad really... You either have to earn enough to live, or be punished financially for trying... |

Sounds fair enough - there's other allowances too (e.g., for training or a new clothes for interviews), but blame those who've milked the system over the years if it's applied so stringently:
Jobseeker's Allowance
Jobseeker’s Allowance is the main benefit for people of working age who are out of work or work less than 16 hours a week on average. If you're eligible, it is paid while you're looking for work. Find out more information including how to apply online.
Contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance & Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance maximum weekly rates are:
Age 16 - 25: £50.95
Age 25 or over: £64.30
