|
|
I'm currently working as a beauty therapist after studying for a year. I am earning just over minimum wage and i cant see this changing if i stick with this career.
I'm thinking of studying accounting as it seems theres jobs and the money is decent. I know this will involve say 5 years of study (3 yrs uni 2 yrs post grad).
I would like to do a short course to make sure it is something i can do. I've briefly read through two accounting books, but havent actually done more than this.
I've come across this course which I can do online:
http://www.emagister.co.uk/accounting_as_1121_courses-ec170054483.htm#programa
Does this seem okay. Any other suggestions of what to do would be great.
I'm based in London and am 30 years old.
I have a good friend who is an accountant, this person suggested this career and has offered to help me with studies. Thus I could study online while still working part time.
I really need a career change, and am usually creative - but it seems there isnt many jobs or money for this type of thing
Any advice would be great |

| I changed careers completely about nine years ago. For the first few years it was tough as there was an initial salary drop and lots of studying. Now though, things are going really well and much better than before the career change. Just make sure that what you are going to do is something that you are interested in and preferably passionate about. Good luck. |

| I'd go to your local college and learn it in the evening. The qualification will probably be more highly respected as well, compared to a purely online course. |

Hi,
The best way to earn good money in your business is to become self-employed, start your own business, find your own customers. If you're good you can £30-£50 doing one hour job. I go to my beauty therapist every one or two months and leave not less than £50 everytime I go. I need to book her at least one week in advance as she's so busy.
You could get some experience in accounting in entry positions(e.g. data input, credit control), but they pay no more than £21k pa. It's good that you're planning to do a degree, than you can get good money. After few years of experience you could jump on managerial position and start earning 40K+.
But just count properly the years it's going to take you to get there (5y uni+3-5 y experience) and the student loan you need to take. Also, if you're going to go part-time for next few years the conditions of living will drop, too.
Anyway, good luck. |
