Hi,

I've had a look at the Companies House website and Passmasters is on the list but it's unclear whether that is the end of Passmasters as an entity or whether another company is being formed/reconstituted.

Regards,

Dave.

Sometimes if a company is being sold or reorganised then that company may be dissolved and then reformed with a different name. I believe Passmasters was owned by someone called Paul Gilligan and was known as 'Gills Passmasters' and now is simply called 'Passmasters' or 'Passmasters training'.

Maybe billydos knows something no-one else does?

Dave.

Passmasters Training Ltd has gone into administration. A new company Pass Drive Ltd, has been formed, but I understand this only to be the driving school part. No idea where that will leave everyone who is looking for refunds on their training. Crying or Very sad

I have been signed up with Passmasters for the past year. Only began my Theory in April and now onto my Part 2. Been out with driving instructor twice and heard from him at the weekend that Passmasters had went into administration. He mentioned that I should be hearing from them and what to do next but how long do you wait before you start the ball rolling yourself.

macrally, it all depends on what happens - and you won't know until it does!

Passmasters may be bought out (well, bought from the Receiver) by another school and then it is quite likely all training commitments will be honoured.

If you are absolutely serious about becoming an ADI then I would suggest finding alternative training (if you can afford it). If the company resurfaces all you have done is take some extra training and you can carry on.

But if they stay dead and buried don't hold out any hopes of refunds or anything - it doesn't happen.

The main thing is to move forward and not hang around in the past listening to anti-driving school chat which won't get you anywhere Smile

Hi macrally,

Sound advice from RHPS.

Are you on good terms with your trainer? Do you trust him and are you actually learning something from him? If so, get back in touch and find out if he will carry on training you on a private basis. If you don't think he's up to much ask around the local instructors and find out who they recommend (as long as it's not themselves).

The idea of administration is to salvage something, if possible a viable business from the wreckage of the company but if that isn't possible then the administrator will seek to get a decent deal for the creditors. There will be a pecking order for who gets paid out first and you will be some way down that pecking order so you would be wise to make your own arrangements as RHPS said above.

Make sure that you keep all the documentation between yourself and Passmasters including any that relates to how much training you have had and how much you paid and try to get in touch with the Administrator if possible just to make sure that you are on the list of creditors. You will have to assume that the instructor you trained with was not employed by Passmasters and you won't know how many lessons he claimed for from your account/the fees you paid so a record of what training you got from them might be useful at some point.

I hope you get some money back from them or some training if the company does resurface but as RHPS said you need to look after yourself and from the point you passed your Part One, the two year qualification clock is ticking. If you want to qualify you need to look after yourself as of now.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Dave.

As a (now former) P.M. trainee, thankfully with the majority of hours under my belt, I, together with I gather from my trainer the bulk of others have heard nothing as yet from the administrators. Fromwhat he has told me they are not dealing with any potential claims by telephone (possibly some 800+ creditors!) and will only communicate via e-mail at Shabina.ali@aaranandpartners.com

So far as any claims for refunds of fees are concerned, I believe that anyone having paid by way of credit card should be protected by the D.C.R. provisions contained in Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act(if I remember my legal training correctly), anyone having paid in full up front by cheque/debit card has to join the list of non-preferred creditors, and for those who took up the 12 month interest free option may gain some benefit from discussions between the finance providers and the administrators, but this is only based on what my own trainer has told me,and I cannot give any guarantee that this is the true position.

I have to agree with some earlier posts that the P.M. traing (particularly at classroom level and the badly photocopied "Traning Manual") is based purely on the P.S.T.s rather than on real pupil training. Of course we all need to be familiar with the Part 3 tests in order to get to ADI status but I have to say that my trainer has been brilliant in going through real learner procedures in additionto the Test 3 stuff. As has been already mentioned in previous posts if you have faith in your trainer, stick with him/her on a paying basis. I am doing just that, paying half the hourly rate that my training buddy who had run out of P.M. hours, was asked to pay by booking extra hours through P.M.

Sorry whinge on, but I hope the info regarding the adminitrators may be of use to some other disgruntled P.M. trainees.

Sorry all, but my previous post contained two errors in the e-mail address of the administrators, The correct address is shabina,ali@aaronandpartners.com and there is a direct dial number for them 01244 405515.
Hope this helps.

Passmasters has been reconstituted as Pass Drive, they are still operating out of Fife, still offering lessons and instructor training, Chris and Sue Gilligan are still Directors and David Watt is still running things from Scotland.

David Watts email is david@passdrive.net, so it stands to reason that Chris and Sues will be chris @passdrive.net and sue@passdrive.net

If you go to www.passmasters.net you get Pass Drive info.....isn't it funny how Pass drive have the same directors as Passmasters, the same people running the office in Scotland (David Watt being the person running the office), and are offering the same services as Passmasters. Also funny how Pass Drive were able to purchase the assets of Passmasters.....ie the cars, office equipment, server etc.......
