I was planning to live there, on St John's Grove (near the church). But I've heard many people say it's a dodgy area and wouldn't go anywhere near it. I don't know the area well at all so can anyone tell me if those comments are true or not?
I need to be able to walk around at night (after 10pm) without feeling like my life is in danger
Some people recommended Highgate, but the underground station doesn't look too safe either. Belsize park/Hampstead is too expensive. |

The met police have crime maps whereby the public can enter the postcode for the area and find out how it compares with the London or national average, I believe.
So you can do your own research. |

I've been staying in Archway for a couple of months, quite near to the church. It has a bit of a bad rep but I wouldn't class it as dodgy. Walking around the streets day or night there is not the dodgy element you would get in say Kilburn which I have also lived in.
Sure compared to the surrounding areas it is less desirable, generally though I don't think it's that bad. Also a few decent(and cheap) restaurants around, but not much in the way of bars. |
