hiya,
I was living for years in london, and just lived in two areas: Camberwell green half of my london's stayed and dalston kingsland the other half. I know what most of people will say about this areas, but according to my experience i never felt unsafe there and I really enjoyed my stayed. Dalston is mostly a turkish area in east london, non tube in there but bus stop 24 hours going to the center and overground around the corner, many nice turkish restaurants, shopping centre, small market... and that's a quite cheap area (well UK is always expensive), Camberwell Green is another non posh area but Ithink If u live on the main street is no that bad, some people told me they feel unsafe on the further streets but i was living between St Parish church and Burgess Park and i never felt this way, the only problem was walk in freeze winter for 15 minutes to your bus stop, cause was no tube station close, but many bus stops. You all know is close to peckham, brixton all these areas are consider gangsta areas, but i could say i was working in brixton and waiting for bus there every nite after midnite after work and never felt unsafe.
i was also in a camden town hostel for 2 weeks in the begining of my experience there...i could say is very nice with its market and everything but is more kinda touristic place, more expensive for live there that south and east london, but u got tube station there...
Now I'm thinking in get back to london from my country not recently but maybe in years time, it attracts me so im missing it, well except london's weather but u get used to... this city never sleeps and its so tolerant, u feel so free here.
missing ya london |

| Hi, we are a family of 2 + a baby. We would like to find a 1 bedroom flat in an area that's safe, green and close to transport. Do you think 500pcm is too optimistic? Which areas would you suggest? Thanks! |

I recomend Richmond,Kingston, Putney , Wimbledon nice quaiet, lots of parks, nice people .
But the downside for Richmond and Putney are the planes coming as early as 5 am, if you light sleeper could be hard to live with (
Othervise is lively . |

| My wife and I will be arriving in London early January 2010, and looking for work straight away. As we don't know which area we will be working, it is hard to look for an area to get a flat. We have previously lived in Clapham and loved it, however if we get work in North London it will be a helluva commute. Can anyone suggest an area that is central where we could get a 2 bedroom flat for aprox 250/week? I am assuming that it will take us a while to get work due to the current economic climate! |
