| I have always got on really well with east europeans, especially the girls lol... but seriously, the more diverse the better, thats what makes living in london so great. |

Where I work we were hiring for various positions (from Delivery driver up to accounts manager). We've had plenty of applications and mixture of nationalities and races. So how does it work out? There's 2.5 mil unemployed in Britain but it seems like people don't want to work |
The problem with examples like these is they are not in the correct context, how much were they being paid etc.
In Poland they are seeing a lot of immigration from Ukraine, Moldova and Vietnam. If I were to post a job in Warsaw with a salary of some 5zl per hour and only got immigrant applicants would I then go round extolling the work ethic of Moldovans.
It costs a lot of money to maintain a household in this country. There are a lot of foriegn workers in the NHS, nurses (whatever their ethnicity) do a fantastic job, yet they get paid 1/6th of what some fat yuppie in a a suit (eg Recruitment Consultant) is getting. Therefore they will struggle to keep up. I suggest the the positions you were recuiting for suffered the same fate?!?

It makes no sense. If it is allowed to continue then It will never end. This country is not that big, it cannot deal and cater for everyone. |
Or could it just be that most eatern europeans have a good work ethic and ar at least educated up to a level standard whilst the feckless here only have their shitty gcse's to fall back on |
It's amazing how much work ethic there can be when it is needed to be.
To be in a situation that forces you if you like to make a decision that goes against the grain, like for instance travelling thousands of miles accross Europe through countless countries to reach only one, then justify your reasons for being there. Work your arse off.
To use ethic as an excuse is a diabolicle way of ignoring a problem that we already have. To brush our own crap under the carpet sounds like a governmental policy that is all too common thses days when it is doing it's best to sell everything to foreign investment anyway.
To deal with the problem and not to add to it is probably the best way forward. But try getting people to listen, it's impossible to convince reality.
Noone has yet said what is to happen in the future when immigrants continue to come here and our feckless continue to sit idle.
Work ethic or not, it is not an excuse. An easy thing to say. |

Too true.
It is not an attack on the immigrtants themselves. Far from it. To attack people who I do not know, why would I.
My argument is mainly about our own purposely unemployed people. Council estate chav's who only wish to scrounge and use having countless babies who they forget to look after as an excuse.
Bellowing at the top of their voices in the middle of the night, drinking, smoking drugs and the like, all becuase they haven't got work in the morning. Blinkered people who live within their own little worlds and cannot see the other houses around them, but only their own council rented accommodation. They are only adding to the problem and unfortunately it is because they are too thick to even realise.
These useless people are here, they will always be here, we are stuck with them because they are British. They are unemployed and raping the state for benefits. Shelling kids like peas. These people have to be dealt with first before labour is given out to foreigners who are delaying the thing that should be happening. Putting the useless British layabouts in work otherwise the future is now. It will never improve. |

Hmm
Just found this browser window open on the pc I share with my wife..
I am from the UK and have lived and worked as an economic Migrant in a few countries... of course I encountered some 'jealousy' from locals who might have considered I was 'competition' they didn't need, but I did OK, as my biz offered a good service.
So, here we are back in the UK... it is a recession... jobs are harder to come by...
The Missus, who is entitled to work here, ( she is Russian ) and VERY well qualified, and speaks better English than some locals on here, it seems, works for a charity shop.. for nought..and we claim nothing from the state.. just PAY taxes..
I guess she found this site, HOPING, to find 'helpful info' ...
Well done, some of you - for making her feel so 'welcome' ... I guess you forgot this site was about helping one another.. ?!!
We ARE in Europe, and you could always get off your asses and try to find a job in country where they aren't in a recession, still ...
I suppose it is easier to blame a 'foreigner'..?
