I'm asking on behalf of a pal who's laid out the best part of £2K on a bed at one of their London stores...

and they've had the wrong matress delivered, other parts of the bed were missing and now Dreams plc won't return phone calls, emails or letters...

It's been a several weeks and despite promising to resolve the matter not a damn thing's happened.

Experiences, advice as to their next action would be great.

that's easy init , if it was from a shop , just go bk to the shop and kick up a fuss , make a noise and say you ain't leaving until your happy , start telling every customer in the shop what's up and how you have been blanked by phone , e mail etc and how crap your bed was and no one is happy to help sort it out . the shop will do everything they can to sort it out there and then , they don't wanna lose customers do they.

I'm trundling out the usual advice to recommend that they contact the Citizens Advice Bureau to see how they stand or find advice from consumer advice websites.

They could submit their experience on review websites, like these people have which leaves an audit trail of their sloppy customer service on the internet.

Funnily enough, they are not only bad at customer service but at their environmental obligations, too. Even the OFT had to intervene about their unfair contract terms.

BBC Watchdog seems to have produced an investigation on them (according to my search results on google) but I couldn't find the report on their website, nonetheless, it does give consumer advice and perhaps they'll send the info on Dreams plc if you contact them.

My following thread is aimed at suing Landlords for unreturned deposits and repairs. However, it is actually the same process to get redress on consumer goods with retailers through the small claims court so they could study how they can prepare the ground for this. Usually just mentioning the small claims court route if satisfaction is not forthcoming is enough to make a company much more responsive.

Also, they could identify who the company director is and their contact address (possibly home address or c/o accountant's address) by downloading the company information if available at the Companies House website. It only costs a couple of quid for this info and is entirely legit as it's in the public domain.
