Hi. I'm planning to be in the south of france for the summer in an attempt to learn the language - can anyone give me any tips on where i should go? and about finding accomodation that isn't too expensive? Was also wondering if there is any hope of finding some casual work...with limited language skills!
Thanks for your help. |

| Hi i lived in france for seven months starting last july and the south of france, especially near Nice is not the best place at all to improve your language. I already speak French but as soon as people pick up an accent they just sigh and revert to english... also accomodation in Nice is v expensive and most people without language skills are forced to work on the black in bars for as little as 5euros an hour. not much when your rent is often around 500euros.... i'd recommend heading a bit more west - i've heard montpellier is a really up and coming place with a huge student population and probably lots of work related to tourism. |

Hi, I have taken quite a few kiwi's & aussies in the past year here in the south of France, most have stayed a month or so. The idea is along the lines of helpX, you stay here for FREE and work a few hours in return, you can also join me in the car whilst I'm working and see various towns in the region. Whilst you're here I could help you get work in a hotel in the village or further afield.
E-mail me if you're interested: worldvoyageur@gmail.com
