|
|
My Wife and I are going to UK around May, 2006 for a 1 - 2 year working holiday. I'm in IT, she's in Healthcare.
ATM we are thinking London but not sure where.
We were thinking of staying in an short term apartment but can't find anything decent under under 150pound a week. We were thinking of bunking in a hostel but not sure if anyone has any good recommendations or any good sites with reviews in good locations... I know there are a few of dodgy ones out there... in crappier locations.
Have seen the posts about where best to stay longer term and looking into it... We are looking for average priced, lots of green (parks) area or close to water and close to tube and supermarkets with good, fresh food and cosy atmospheres.

Hey,
Check out the Barmy Badger in Earl's Court if you're looking for a homely sort of place. People tend to stay longer than expected and one guy has even been there for four years! I spent my first 5 months in London there and only left because I found a really cheap house.
There's a huge Tesco's nearby, the tube is right around the corner, and Holland Park is just up the road. No water though!
I stayed 4 years ago and it was a pricey £85 per week per person then and not sure what it is now.
Hope this helps! |

| try www.theukstay.co.uk they offer a short term home stay. Me and my girlfriend we paid 75 per person and it was only 2 of us sharing a room rather then 8 in a hostel. We stayed for 2 months but I think you can book it weekly. check them out |

| Globetrotter Inn at Hammersmith is fantastic hostel, with clean facilities and very friendly staff and visitors! Very safe and handy area to tubes as well! |

| Accommodationlondon is fine for short term lease. Be careful for longer term because getting out of your contract is very difficult- they are not too kosher in my opinion, even though their ads are very professional and their places are beautiful (on the surface). |
