Hey Guys! My friend and I are Canadians coming to work in the UK this fall. I was just wondering if there are many live in jobs in London? It seems easier than trying to find a flat and having to pay rent. Also is London a good place to start our year long trip/work experience? We want to enjoy both traveling and living in a European city. This will be the first trip overseas for both of us so any advice about any topic would be wonderful!!!
Thanks,

Hey guys, London is a good plce to start, I came over from Oz last September... Living in London gives you the opportunity to earn the pounds and spend in Europe which will go a long way!! I think you should find it easy to get a job especially live-in!! Do u have any bar experience?? It is also easy to get a job as a general assistant which is shitty work but u will meet good people and save money easily!! A general assistant basically works at a hotel... waitress in breakfast, then clean rooms, then rest for a few hours and serve dinner etc..
As i said pretty shit work but a good opportunity to save money!!
Then if you want to see Europe, do a van tour which starts around june/july... i am about to do one with a few mates and have heard its excellent fun and the best way to experience europe!!
What do u guys usually do for a job at home??
Let me know and if you wanna chat more i will give u my msn address and you can ask away anything...
If not good luck... Alby |

Hey thanks for the information. We have experience in grocery stores/ apparel stores. Knowledgeable around computers but no actual jobs like that. The general assistant type of work sounds cool.
Could you tell me more about these Van tours? |

Basiacally, you buy yourself a van and travel around europe usually starting around the end of june... a whole bunch of people in different vans do this every year... you dont need to sign up just basically meet in PAmplona at the running of the bulls, then head to Lagos in Portugal for a beach party... roam the rest of europe at your pleasure and meet the other vans for the finale at the Oktoberfest in Sept/October.. Like i said im goin to do it this summer and i cant wait!!! We are gettin amped now because the vans ready and it is only like 8 weeks of work left to go!! If you wanna keep in contact i can let u know how it went... and maybe you might wanna purchase the van when we get back...
A couple of mates we purchased the van off did it last year and lasted off £2500... and they said they partied every night!! So its definetly a cheap and unique way to see europe!!
Cool, seeya later.. let me know if ya want my email??
