Hi, I need some info.
We are a couple looking for a 1 bed flat, we are both working right now and not claimimg any benefits, but as i'm 6 months in pregnant and next month i'm going for a maternity i was wondering if we will have any problems later on with landlord, as we will claim for housing benefit. I mean, if now landlord says NO DSS, and then we will receive it so what can happen? Or maybe we will have no chance to get benefits if we sign contract like no dss???
thanks for help! |

LHA is paid directly to tenants and my understanding is that landlords are not informed when a tenant receives it.
Advertisements routinely state 'no dss' but I'm not aware of any actual contracts (ASTs) that contain this clause, presumably because its not legally enforceable as a contractual clause.
A landlord, so long as they serve appropriate notice, do not need to give a reason to end a tenancy.
Have you actually checked the LHA and benefit calculators (see the Entitled To website) to find out if you are eligible towards support for your rent when you stop working? |

Yes, we've checked if we will be eligible to receive any benefits, not too much but always some money more.
Thanks for your help, cheers! |
