Have you recently tried leaf letting for your trade business and has it work out well for you?

How many did you give out?

If so how well?

How long did it roughly take for you to get a good response?

I've given out 200 last week and got a call 3 days ago to repair a toilet.

my husbands buisness we've done yell - no repsonses back, I made him a website, nothing back with that did leaflets - one or two responses, but the best thing we got calls from is the signage on his van. and of course being parked down our road alot of the responses are very local. One of the worst bits of advertising was an advert on the leicester city football team's fixtures calender, rubbish- no response and cost about £350

He's a painter and decorator btw.

Good luck.

As a master plumber it is a relief to me that 'leaflet drops', and advertising in general gives a poor response. I would expect anyone wanting to find a decent plumber to go to the Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering (CIPHE). OR, elderly people may contact their local council or age concern, who usually keep a list of firms that work for vulnerable people (one could argue that we are all vulnerable when it comes to buying a service these days, what ever it is).

Over the next few years expect to see 'Trevor Mc Donald' type stories about people who cannot find a decent plumber or gas fitter - lets face it the suits have exploited the industry, at the expense of the customer and bonifide tradespeople. The majority of people in the plumbing industry have undertaken less than a year of training!

As for the leaflet drops, I only did it once, about 15 years ago when I won approval to offer government grants on energy efficiency upgrades. I was the only one in 100 mile area and advertised this on leaflets produced by the energy saving trust, where customers could get £200 off a boiler change, £7.50 toward each thermostatic valve fitted, and up to £180 toward a controls upgrage - I dropped thousands of leaflets and did not get one response. When I asked customers in the area why they did not respond - the ones that read the leaflet were put off by the grant!

I could not give the grants away because people were so sceptical - a complete waste of time for me! I lost money because I had to pay the apprentice to do the leaflet drop.

i had a quick google to see if i could find out how effective they are

and what it looks like theere are more people making money out of doing the drops than punters maling money from the responses

trouble with them is whether plumbing or whatever

when you want them you want them otherwise they go in the bin
i bin loads of unwanted lealets at my house never even look at them
