i was made redundant 4 months ago (no suprise in this climate). after looking for jobs in my field and having no success i realised a major rethink was in order. job seekers allowance wasnt going to pay the mortgage so rather than aim high and go for big buck i took what i could. i now work for an electrical firm building tumble dryers and i couldnt be happier.
having never been unemployed since i left school i was ill prepared for what faced me. i felt embarresed signing on like i didnt deserve it and slowly became despondant. when things improve i will again look for a more involved role but for now i give my all for minimum wage pay the bills and can hold my head high.
