Me and my wife have rented (sublet) a place
The tenant that is subletting the place told us it was all right to be two people in the self-contained room but now the landlord (owner) doesn’t want us to be two in the room as he said it was for one. Indeed, we signed the contract as one, that’s true althought he doesn’t know that, I guess.
The tenant subletting now tells us not to worry because the landlord can’t do anything; however we are not happy with this situation and want to move.
We have signed a contract for 5 months and now have been offered a pretty good place available in 2 months. The subletter is a nice guy and we don’t want to trouble him but we are not happy.
Is there anything we can do about this?
Thank you |

Did the landlord agree that the tenant could sublet the property to you?
If you have a legally binding contract then there is nothing the landlord can do. He needs to take it up with the tenant and not you.
On the other hand if the landlord did not agree that the tenant could sublet then you can move out! |

Thanks for your comment
I don’t know if the landlord agreed with the tenant. I think they did; however, if subletting is illegal, I don’t know if they can agree on some thing illegal. We do have a contract but I guess you can not make a contract from an illegal position. Then, if they can agree on that and, I have a contract for 5 months but want to move after 3 months. Can we sublet as well if the subleter agrees?
