am very sure this is a scam!!!
I have received many other offers so I don't know what
to choose.
I don't want to make a trip for nothing and not to
find you there and loose time.
I also don't want to loose your time either.
Three weeks ago I have received also many offers to
rent it,
one person told me to come to show him the apartment
and to make the rent papers.
I have took a plane and I arived in London the next
day.
I showed the apartment to that person and he was
impresed but he told me that he has the money for one
month in advance and that I have to wait another two
months to pay me the rest.
I lost my time this way and money on flights.
I also go here in Athens at the hospital twice a week
so I can't stay for a long time in UK.
Here is what I propose:
Make the transfer using western union on a Friend Name
or to a Family Member of yours for the 3 months rent
and reply with the western union scaned receipt jpg
format.
This way I will be sure that you have the money to pay
me in advance and also that will not loose my time and
that I will not make the trip for nothing.
I will support the transfer fees from my pocket when
we will meet or you can deduct them from the rent.
I will expect the scaned receipt and we will arange a
meeting a soon after that.
We will go and see the apartment and after that we
will go to pick up the money from the western union.
(this means that the friend or relative must be with
you at that time)

Hi kally79,
This is most definitely a scam.
Same tired sob story about being out of town, relative in hospital, wasted money on flights last time, heaps of interest, blah blah blah.
The big giveaway is asking for a Western Union transfer, and the offer is two good to be true. An apartment for 350 pounds! No chance.
I will email you for more details on this person so that we can take action!
Please see below for tips on how to stay safe on Gumtree. |

Was quite surprised she went into so much detail for a 1st email - i'd only sent an email about a flat.
Most definitely a scam!! |

I received an email from this lady and I notice that the time zone shown in the email doesn't match Greece's time zone.
For example (The shown date and time, except the time zone, in the example is not the same as the one I got. I changed it in oder to prevent tracking. The purpose is to want you to check if you can detect the same fraud in the email)
Date: Wed, 10 Jul 2007 13:10:11 -0700
From: dialcabp@yahoo.com
The time zone is -7. But Greece should be +2.
So I'm very sure it's a scam. |

It's a scam. 100%. As someone else mentioned, this sort of thing is known as a 419 scam. Personally, I can't see how anyone could be so gullible as to fall for it, but then I'm one of the most cynical people I know!
If you have the time and inclination, it's fun to wind these people up. Use false details, and keep assuring them you have sent the money via Western Union. Use a fake tracking number, and when they come back tell them you misread one digit, and off they go again. Keep making excuses to keep them hanging on. Hours of fun!
Lots of this type of thing here: http://www.419eater.com/ or http://www.scambuster419.co.uk/ |

| Regarding the email about a flat between Marble Arch & Edgware Road, it's definitely a scam because had that person known the area, they'd know that 350 a month is highly unlikely in that expensive area!! |
